“Education is a human right, with immense power to transform. On its foundation, rest the cornerstones of freedom, democracy and sustainable human development”.(Kofi Anan)
Education is a social instrument which not only allows an individual to guide his destiny and shape his future but also, helps establishing a better society. Illiteracy is a main obstacle in a country’s way to development and prosperity. Unfortunately, Pakistan’s literacy rate keeps on dwindling, thus impeding the national development. This is because of near to nonexistent educational opportunities in the poverty stricken lowly areas.
Children from such backgrounds, who comprise a large portion of our population, are deprived of their basic right to education and are forced to become an earning hand for the family.
Therefore, some radical steps must be taken in order to relieve them from the curse of poverty and to include them in the national stream of development.
There are few organizations which have made this goal, their mission statement.
Renaissance Pakistan, being one of those Non-government organizations, is engaged in spreading the light of knowledge in such areas.
It is a platform for the street children, to help them make use of their talents, abilities and energies in a positive manner.
We, at Revolution Flame, are hopeful to contribute to this noble cause, hand in hand with Renaissance Pakistan. This organization is building new schools in Islamabad for the poor deprived angels and is encouraging them to acquire education.
This sort of awareness will not only help in reducing poverty but also, enhance the feelings of unity and national integration. Equipping these unprivileged children with education, means a hope; of bright future for their families and a new broader vision.
There is a need to make such families aware of the importance of education. Renaissance Pakistan is doing everything in its power, to spread the word to the masses and make them send their children to schools, instead of workshops and streets.
“Education is a matter of life and death for Pakistan. The world is progressing so rapidly that without requisite advance in education, not only we shall be left behind others but may be wiped out altogether”. (Muhammad Ali Jinnah)
