Rawalpindi Medical College arranged a 4 day event of Parliamentary style debates from 26th to 29th April 2013. The event was held in Holy Family Hospital Campus of RMC.
24 Teams participated in the event from universities across Pakistan including Lahore School of Economics, FC college Lahore, University of Lahore, PU, King Edward, NUML, Shifa College of Medicine, National Defense University, Military College of Signals, UET Taxila, Wah Engineering College, Wah Technical College, GIKI, Sargodha Medical College and FMDC.
Two rounds were conducted on first day. Each team was provided an Usher, who was responsible for guiding the teams to the debating room. Teams were given 30 minutes for the preparation of the debate. The topic for first round was
“This house would support exceptions to gender equality in workplace”.
After the rounds, participants were served dinner.
Third round was conducted on day two. The topic was,
“This house believes that renewed strength of labor organizations is necessary for progressive economics”.
After the round, participants were taken to the old campus of RMC (Tipu road) where Abdullah Qureshi rocked the crowd with his songs.
Semi-final rounds were conducted on this day, the topic was,
“This house supports presidential system in Pakistan.”
The topic for finals was,
“This house supports that students should run the school”.
After the final round, closing ceremony was held in the auditorium. Lahore School of Economics won the debates while King Edward B team was runners up. In the end of closing ceremony the Principal of RMC Professor Muhammad Umar and Professor Dr. Asma Tanvir Usmani were invited on the stage to present their views about the Event. After the closing ceremony lunch was served and then the guest teams left for their universities.
