‘I Volunteered’ and reading all the wonderful things people do to bring smiles moved me and I thought of doing something for him.

Whenever I went to school, there was this little boy who used to sell these coloring books for like Rupees 20-25. Yet I’d never seen many people buy them from him. He had the most angelic face. I always wondered that how cute this little boy would have been if he’d have been born in a rich family. He’d be given all the facilities and all the required things for a better life. Well, I never thought of doing anything for him. But this ‘I Volunteered’ and reading all the wonderful things people do to bring smiles moved me and I thought of doing something for him.

The other day I walked up to him and started talking to him. He told me that his name was Ali. He was the oldest in his family and his father had passed away. He had to leave school since he had to work to make ends meet.

All I did for him was I bought all the books he had that way which amounted to around Rupees 200 and I asked him to bring all the books he had the next day. I promised him that I’d keep buying a certain number of his books from him everyday. He smiled when I handed him the money and he said these words:

“Baji, Allah sb dekhny walah hai,woh aapko iska ajr dega”. His words moved me to tears.

We all spend around 200 or 300 everyday on completely normal things but for Ali, the money was food for his family.
